This piece is a vintage Peruvian silver bracelet adorned with authentic Huayruro seeds (often spelled *huayruru* or confused with *huari*).
Significance and Origin: The Huayruro seed comes from the *Ormosia coccinea* tree, native to the Amazon rainforest. These seeds are instantly recognizable by their bright red color contrasted with a black spot.
Symbolism: In Inca and South American cultures, these seeds are powerful good-luck charms. They are traditionally worn as amulets to attract luck and prosperity and to ward off the evil eye.
The technique: To protect them from moisture and the passage of time, artisans set the seeds within silver flower-shaped mounts, encasing them beneath cabochons of clear resin or protective plant sap.
Symbolism: In Inca and Amazonian cultures, wearing a *Huayruro* bracelet serves as a protective amulet to attract good luck and prosperity while warding off negative energies (such as the evil eye).
I chose to preserve the original patina, which protects its historical integrity, sharp details, and value for collectors.
